With the return of Demarcus Cousins coming tomorrow against the Clippers, suspense is mounting.
Cousins tore his achilles last season which is significant to say the least.
Notable players to suffer a similar injury include Rudy Gay, Wesley Matthews, Brandon Jennings and of course Kobe Bryant. At the time of their respective injuries, all were stars in the NBA and were never able to replicate results prior to the injury.
This is especially significant because Cousins is one of the bigger stars (size and statistically) to suffer this debilitating injury.
The former 5th overall pick and four-time All-Star averaged 25 points per game, and nearly 13 rebounds in New Orleans last season before his injury. The Warriors took a risk on Cousins when others shied away, signing him for the league minimum of 5.3 million.
NBA Twitter was outraged at the signing of the defending champs, and rightfully so. The league has never seen a lineup quite like this one.
The greatest team ever assembled is about to get even better. After a relatively slow start, the Warriors are now atop the Western Conference and on a six-game win streak.
The Warriors are -150 to win the Championship this year; the team with the second best odds are the Raptors at 6/1. Expect the Warriors odds to increase after time with Cousins in the lineup.
