Kentucky, Georgia, or Florida State for Anthony Edwards?

It’s Anthony Edwards decision eve. The nation’s #5 overall prospect and #1 overall SG from Atlanta will make his college announcement Monday morning on CBSSports HQ.

Edwards is the top uncommitted recruit in the 2019 class and has narrowed down his choices to Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida State.

Evan Daniels of 247Sports has already picked the Georgia Bulldogs as the destination for Edwards, so that would be a safe bet.

Edwards is listed at 6-foot-5, 215 pounds. He can finish at the rim, pass the ball, and can shoot the three (45% in his final summer). Edwards can shoot on the catch or moving and can pull-up and hit shots. He has drawn comparisons to James Harden because he’s at his best with the ball in his hands.

However, defense is an issue for Edwards. He has all of the tools needed but sometimes loses focus on the court.

You might be asking why a top 5 recruit is considering Georgia?  Edwards is from Atlanta and would be a huge get for Tom Crean and the Bulldogs. Crean already has Jaykwon Walton and Toumani Camara, two top-100 four-star recruits coming in, so adding Edwards to that mix would accelerate a rebuild.

Kentucky seems to be always in the mix for these guys. John Calipari has already proven that he can do great things with great guards and he would certainly add Edwards to that list if he chose the Cats.

Calipari already has two five-star commitments from Tyrese Maxey and Kahlil Witney as well as four-star Dontai Allen. Adding Edwards to the 2019 class would make the Cats a contender (on paper) heading into next season.

Then you have Florida State. Edwards was due to visit Florida State this past weekend but cancelled the trip, which would hint that he has moved on from the Seminoles. If he were to flip the script and pick Florida State, he would join Patrick Williams and Balsa Koprivica, two four-star prospects.

The Seminoles are already packed at his position, but they would certainly make room for Edwards if they were to land him.

We’ll find out tomorrow morning.
