CBB Rants and Rambling: Week 15

I’ll be honest with you, I expected that Duke and Virginia game to be a little more entertaining.

We’ve hit week 15 in the college basketball season and several teams wracked up their 20+ win of the season. It’s weird, but I feel like just yesterday I watched Duke blow out Kentucky.

Let’s recap some of the headlines and talk about the latest AP Top 25 poll.

Duke handled Virginia with ease. Like I said, I expected the “blockbuster” top 3 match up in Charlottesville to be a little more entertaining, but you can’t always get what you want.

Duke’s three freshman looked scary good combining for 61 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. I might be wrong, but I think Duke deserves that #1 ranking.

Virginia will have to bounce back very quickly as they have an ACC showdown with North Carolina tonight.

Somehow Kansas is still in the top 15. This is one of Bill Self’s worst teams and yet they are still ranked high. I’m not even going to waste my breath.

Kentucky survives a scare in Starkville and extends their winning streak to 10 games. Kentucky is getting hot late in the year, which seems to happen every year. The Cats have two big tests this week. They face LSU in Rupp tomorrow, then play Tennessee at Rupp on Saturday, in what might be the game of the year.

John Calipari and the Wildcats are on a roll, but can they finally win a title instead of bragging about Elite Eights?

Tennessee extends their winning streak to 18 games and remains #1. Even though I think Duke deserves the #1 ranking over Tennessee, I still believe this Volunteer team in very, very good.

We’ll see how good they are though as they have a massive SEC showdown in Lexington this Saturday. That game that will go a long way in determining who wins the SEC…

Here’s a look at the rest of the top 25:
