Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby will not attend White House visit

The Washington Capitals will be without their star goaltender when they visit President Trump at the White House next week.

“I’ve got to stay true to my values, and I’m going respectfully decline the offer,” Holtby said, reported by the Washington Post.

Holtby has been an NHL All-Star for four consecutive seasons, and won the Vezina Trophy in 2016.

This year, the 29-year-old Canadian netminder is posting a .907 save percentage in 53 games played.

Forwards Devante Smith-Pelly and Brett Connolly will also not attend the event.
