Indianapolis Star – Two weeks after a tryout at their rookie minicamp, the Colts have signed embattled quarterback Chad Kelly to add depth at a position that already includes Andrew Luck, Jacoby Brissett and Phillip Walker.

Kelly, a seventh-round pick of the Broncos in 2017, was released by Denver last October after he was arrested for trespassing inside a woman’s home after a Halloween party at a teammate’s house. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one year of supervised probation and 50 hours of community service.

Kelly was also involved in an altercation outside a nightclub in Buffalo in 2014 (criminal charges were later dropped after Kelly pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct) and he transferred from his first collegiate stop, Clemson, after getting into an argument with the coaching staff during the game.

He is the nephew of Hall of Fame QB Jim Kelly, a longtime teammate and friend of Colts head coach Frank Reich.

As a Colts fan, I’m pretty disgusted by this move. Chad Kelly has no place in the NFL. Too many police videos.

By the way, I’m a guy who thinks Colin Kaepernick screwed himself out of the NFL by being a political distraction. If he was Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson, it wouldn’t matter. But Kaep was a fringe starting QB when he decided to become a political activist, and it completely backfired on him and his football career.

But I gotta call balls and strikes. This dude has way bigger problems than Colin Kaepernick. Kaep never broke the law, and Chad did.

Chad Kelly has gotten chance after chance, and it’s a bad look for the league that he’s in the league, and Colin isn’t.

This is coming from a guy who started up a conservative sports network.
