Michigan’s 2020 class currently has nine verbal commits and ranks No. 14 in the country, per 247Sports. This strong class may soon be getting another member.
2020 Archbishop Hoban (Akron, OH) 3-star LB Devin Hightower placed the Wolverines in his top-five on Monday.
Michigan will be competing with Cincinnati, Iowa, Michigan State and Pittsburgh to secure his commitment.
At 6’1″, 218 pounds, Hightower is strong enough to defend against the run, as well as quick enough to cover slot receivers and running backs. He lists himself as a linebacker and defensive back on his Hudl page. This is the type of versatility that we have seen thrive in Don Brown’s defense over the last three seasons.
Built similarly in size to Khaleke Hudson, Hightower is the No. 48 OLB prospect in the country and the No. 18 player in the state of Ohio in the 2020 class, according to 247Sports.
He took an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor on February 24 and is set to unofficially visit Pittsburgh on June 14 and Michigan State on June 21.
The current “Crystal Ball” predictions are deadlocked 50-50 between Michigan and Pittsburgh.
